JAI HARRIS Film Academy 

Filmmaking is one of the earliest forms of entertainment and a tool to educate, enlighten, and
uplift audiences of all demographics. From Concept to final delivery, Jai Harris Film Academy
will provide students of all ages with a complete curriculum that will allow them to turn their ideas
into a finished product ready for the big screen. Courses will include special guest appearances
from industry professionals who will share their journeys and provide the students with invaluable

insight into the entertainment world.

This Academy will infuse online courses with in-person teaching, allowing students to test their
newly acquired knowledge as they bring their projects to life. Jai Harris Film Academy aims to
empower the everyday people with the necessary tools to preserve history, share their stories, and build their legacies!

ABOUT JAI HARRIS 

"Jai" Harris is a Denver Native commonly known as"Jackie of All Trades." She is a self-made Visionary and Storyteller in the entertainment
world. Her artistic flair and sheer determination to succeed propelled her as a Poet, Producer, Director, and Writer with vast experience spanning 17 years.


She is the founder and director of Serene Cinema LLC and MissingLink
Cinema LLC, two media companies dedicated to telling compelling and
exclusive stories.

Jai studied Theater, Film & Television with an emphasis on writing/ directing and post-production at the University of Colorado and Colorado Film School.


She has had a stellar career in the entertainment industry, working as a TV Producer for MTV, VH1, HGTV, BET, LIFETIME, OWN, CENTRIC, WE TV, E!,
TVOne, Food Network, TLC, Bravo, and more. She has worked on over 28 Network projects with celebrities, artists, and entertainers of all genres. With the help of Urban Nature Impact, Jai will share the art of storytelling from idea to final delivery with youth worldwide.

CLASSES

INTRODUCTION TO UNSCRIPTED

This course will introduce students to Unscripted Filmmaking,including Documentary and Reality Series. They will compare and contrast this genre with narrative and scripted films. They will explore popular unscripted shows produced by Jai Harris to learn every step of the production process.

PRODUCTION ROLES

This course will break down the various role in production and post-production, such as Executive Producer, Co-Executive Producer,Showrunner, Field Producer, Segment Producer, Location Scouts, Story Producer, Associate Producers, Editors, Assistant Editor, and more. Students will determine which role they are most interested in
and will be assigned that role for the project they will produce in this course. CONCEPT CREATION

This course will give students the floor to brainstorm original content ideas. They will discuss how their concepts differ from the programming currently on television and streaming networks. Students will be assigned to put their thoughts on paper and prepare to present them in the next course.

HOW TO PITCH A PROJECT

In this course, students will present their ideas and learn to properly pitch them to their classmates, instructor, and special guest. They will learn about Log Lines, a brief (one to two sentence) summary that hooks the reader in and describes the story's central conflict. They will also learn to write a Synopsis, a brief summary that gives readers an
overview of the story's main points. Students will present their Log Lines in a future course.

SIZZLE REELS & POC'S

As students continue to work on their Log Lines and Synopsis, they will learn about other materials that will help them explain their ideas; Sizzle Reels and Proof of Concepts. Sizzle reels are intended to show a select audience a project and someone's creative skill through a short introduction video. Typically, they range from two to five minutes. The shorter, the better; people's attention can only be kept for so long. Sizzle reels provide proof
of concept. Students will watch examples of Sizzle Reels and be able to make their own Sizzle Reels in a future course.

PRE-PRODUCTION / GREENLIGHT

Students will present their two-sentence Log Lines to a panel of industry professionals. Selected projects will get the green light to start pre-production. Students will learn about outlines, story bibles, beat sheets, and other materials to expand their projects. They will prepare to shoot their Sizzle Reels, and each student will implement
the job tasks necessary for the role they selected in course 102. Students will finalize the location, talent, equipment list, and logistics for their shoot.

PRODUCTION PART 1

Students will be paired with Industry Professionals to begin production of their Sizzle Reels and have two production days to complete their Sizzle Reels. This hands-on learning experience will teach them
directing, shooting and lighting, interviewing, and more.

PRODUCTION PART 2

Students continue production of their Sizzle Reels. Industry Professionals help them ensure they have enough coverage to complete their Sizzle Reels. Upon wrapping up production and students prepare for post- production.

POST PRODUCTION

In this course, students will learn about various Editing Applications such as Adobe Premier Creative Cloud and iMovie. They will also learn about editing options from social media apps such as TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat. The goal is to teach the students to utilize the resources they have in hand to get their stories to the masses. With the help of Professional editors, the Sizzle Reels will be cut and prepped for screening.

STREAMING & SOCIAL MEDIA

This course will teach students about different platforms for sharing their videos. Students will learn about User-Generated Content Platforms such as Youtube and Vimeo. They will also learn how to get projects on Amazon
Prime and other popular streaming sites. Students will work with a marketing expert who will advise them on reaching the largest audiences with their original content.

SCREENING 

After an insightful and successful 10-week course, Students will join Industry Professionals, Family, and Friends for a screening of their Sizzle Reels. They will practice their pitches with attendees and get feedback on their
materials. Students will walk away with a finished product they can share through streaming and social media. They will also have the tools to continue to develop and produce their original projects.
