EXT. SANTA MONICA PROMINADE - NIGHT

Beautiful atmosphere. Street Performers are entertaining patrons.

Shawn and Kayle are walking by the local shops.

SHAWN

So what about you? What do you do?

KAYLE

Right now I’m in school full time. Today is my long day, if I hadn’t ditched to hang out with you I’d still be in class right now.

SHAWN

You ditched to hang with me? I knew there was a wild child in you.

KAYLE

Well duh.

They share a laugh.

KAYLE (CONT’D)

All I know is I’d be in science class right now with an instructor that makes the teacher from Ferris Buller look like Dane Cook. I admit I do feel kinda guilty though.

SHAWN

Well then look at this as being a field trip not so much of a date.

KAYLE

A field trip?

SHAWN

Yeah, you said you’d be in science so think of this as a field trip to see if we have chemistry.

She looks at him. He thinks they’re sharing a moment until....She BURSTS out into very OBNOXIOUS LAUGHTER. Definitely not the response he was looking for.

KAYLE

That was lame.

SHAWN

That was not lame.

KAYLE

Yeah it definitely was.

Shawn thinks to himself.

SHAWN

Ok so maybe it was a little lame.

KAYLE

Maybe more then a little. Look I like you so just keep being sweet. I promise you it’ll get you a lot farther, a lot faster then corny player lines will.
