INT. BEACH HOUSE - FAMILY ROOM - NIGHT

Michelle walks through when she see's her father.

MICHELLE

(surprised)

Daddy?

FATHER

Hey sweetheart, wow look at you, you look beautiful.

She doesn't say anything but she looks upset.

FATHER (cont'd)

You must be off to the festival.

MICHELLE

Yeah, you going?

FATHER

No your mother and I just got in and

were pretty pooped.

MICHELLE

Figures.

FATHER

That's that suppose to mean?

MICHELLE

I just don't understand why you all don't want to spend more time with

me, why am I always the vacation you two can't wait to take from me.

FATHER

Its not that at all, those business trips your mother and I take, its just that business, unlike some families we unfortunately don't really get much of a vacation.

FATHER (CONT'D)

Your mother and I always wanted to make sure you always had everything you ever wanted, I've seen a lot of families lose all that they had do to financial situations and you mother

and I we work, year round if that's what it takes to make sure that doesn't happen.

MICHELLE

You think I need all of this, I don't in fact all of this makes me feel a bit inferior I don't feel like I

belong, all I ever wanted was to spend time with you all, if that means doing so a little poor than so be it.

FATHER

You don't mean that. I've been in that life its nothing to want, you begin to see how much all this really means when you don't have it, sweetie believe me.

MICHELLE

You mean like parents, cuz believe I'm feeling extremely poor in that area. I don't understand what's so wrong with me, why you all always want to leave me alone.

FATHER

That's not at all what we want.

MICHELLE

Well you know what that's what I

want, for you all to just leave me alone.

She hastily exits the room. Her father watches her leave.
